Life skills and recreational activities for Bekaa youth groups

| Budget: 7500 US$

Most of the youth groups in Bekaa are in desperate need for support. There are no NGOs working with them and they have limited support from the local authorities, add to this the children in Bekaa area have minimal access to activities unless they are enrolled in these youth groups. These youth groups depend for their fundraising mainly on some local very limited activities. Thus, their services and children care activities are minimal due to budget limitations. On the other hand, in this area, there are no much social, cultural and sports activities which can build the child’s personality and encourage him to be a better person in the community.

Rehabilitation and equipment of schools in Bsharreh

The education sector in Bsharreh area faces enormous difficulties that can be summarized in: - Lack of budget allocated to the education sector by the Lebanese Government - High tuition fees, while many families have low income and can barely meet the needs of their families. - Almost all the school buildings were built long time ago and need to be rehabilitated and equipped in order to cope with the modern techniques of education. -The yearly school budget can’t cover the purchase of new equipment or construction material for rehabilitation.

Empowering Central Bekaa youth to adopt healthy behaviors

Villages of Central Bekaa area suffer from the lack of youth activities, and the established youth groups have very little resources, this coupled with very little extracurricular activities that youth in this area can do is leading to many risky behaviors, from alcohol to drug abuse, and risky reproductive health practices. This calls for immediate action to save our youth from harming themselves and each other before we lose them. Empowering youth groups in this area to become peer educators about the following topics: prevention of drug abuse - alcohol abuse - cigarette smoking- healthy diets- HIV and sexually transmitted infections. Each youth member benefiting from this project will help us tackle at least 10 other peers in his community. This project will help us move towards healthier youth and thus a healthier future.

Marjeyoun Anti-smoking marathon day

| Budget: 3,000 US$

Marjeyoun is an unstable part of the South of Lebanon. Villages of Marjeyoun witnessed massive devastated villages, ruined houses, damaged infrastructure and income loss during the July 2006 brutal war that obliged people to inhale a massive amount of bombs ashes and encouraged them to start smoking.
